Change what is under their claws
Cats scratch where the texture works, and that is usually the arm of the sofa. You cannot argue them out of the spot, but you can change what is on it — cut this to the shape of the place they already use, press it down, and the scratching carries on where it does no damage.
Give them a better corner than the one they've chosen
Ready in three simple steps
Adhesive needs something clean to hold on to.
Ordinary scissors. Cut a little generously and trim.
Start at one edge, peel back a few centimetres, then press it down as you pull the rest of the backing away so no air is trapped.

Which size should I choose?
All three are a metre long and differ in width. A 30 cm covers a door frame or one sofa arm; a 40 cm covers a wider arm; a 60 cm covers an arm and the corner behind it, or cuts down into several smaller patches.
Will it damage my furniture or wall?
On painted walls and delicate veneers, test a small piece somewhere hidden first and leave it a day before committing — how easily any adhesive lifts depends on what is underneath. It is not for use on wallpaper.
Can I cut it?
Yes, with ordinary scissors. It is designed to be cut to shape, and several pieces can be butted together to cover a larger area.
Will my cat actually use it instead of the sofa?
Put it exactly where they already scratch, rather than somewhere you would prefer they scratched. Cats choose the spot first and the texture second, so the panel works best when it covers the spot they have already picked.
Does it shed like sisal?
No. It is a dense needle-punched fabric rather than rope, so it does not leave fibres on the carpet underneath.
