The skidding is the hair, not the floor
A paw grips with the pads. When the hair between them grows past the pad surface, the pet is walking on hair instead — and on a hard floor that is a skid. Trimming it back is a two-minute job if the tool is the right shape and quiet enough to sit through.
Clear the pads and the grip comes back
Ready in three simple steps
Run it for a second in your hand before it touches a paw.
Hold the paw and press gently so the pads open and the hair between them stands up.
Trim level with the pads, not below them, and stop while they are still relaxed.

Good to know
Why trim between the pads at all?
Because the pads are what grip. Once the hair grows past them the pet is walking on hair, and on tile or laminate that turns into a skid.
Is it quiet enough for a nervous pet?
It is quieter than a full-size clipper, which is usually the difference between finishing and not. Let them hear it running in your hand before it touches a paw.
Can I wash it?
Rinse the head under the tap and let it dry before charging.
How often should I use it?
Whenever the hair reaches past the pads. For most coats that is every few weeks, and some pets never need it at all.
Can I use it elsewhere on the coat?
It is built for paws — a small blade and a short reach. For a body trim you want a full-size clipper.
